LABOR CANDIDATE FOR PERTH
A Shorten Labor Government will deliver $1 million towards a comprehensive structural plan relating to potentially sinking the Bayswater train station and redeveloping the town centre, Labor’s candidate for Perth Tim Hammond said.
“I’ve been out consulting with local residents, community groups, our local State MP as well as the City of Bayswater. The message is clear – we need to fix this part of town to make sure the heart of Bayswater is beating once again,” Mr Hammond said.
“Major tunneling works near Bayswater Station for the Forrestfield Airport Link present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for redevelopment in Bayswater in a way that benefits our local community”.
“We’ve heard vague platitudes from the Barnett Government and the Liberal Party on redeveloping Bayswater – but platitudes don’t produce outcomes.
“That’s why a Shorten Labor Government will provide a $1 million funding injection for a detailed structure plan and vision for the future of Bayswater – bringing in the experts to establish how best to remove the subway choke-point, reconnect the two sides of Bayswater and create a vibrant local village.”
